Concurrent degrees with Werklund cannot be completed with Co-op.

Co-op programs normally take five years to complete and include 12 to 16 months of paid supervised work experience. Students who complete the requirements will graduate with a "Co-operative Education" designation on their transcript and parchment.

Students interested in pursuing Co-op should discuss their plans and course selection with the Co-op Co-ordinator or Advisor in the Arts Students™ Centre as early in their programs as possible.

It is the student responsibility to find work placements. Work placements are not guaranteed. The role of the Co-op Co-ordinator and Advisor is to assist students in finding work placements, including help with developing job-searching, interviewing, and resume-building skills.

Students normally apply in the Fall term of their second year of study for admission in the same term. The application deadline is October 15. Students apply at .

In addition to the criteria listed at 3.2 Requirements, the Faculty of Arts admission criteria are:

1. Completion of at least 30 units, and no more than 60 units at the time of application.

2. A grade point average of 2.50 over the most recent 30 units.

Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission. Capacity in the program may be limited due to program resources and market conditions.

Progress through the Co-operative Education Program is bound by the rules concerning Registration, Course Work, Student Standing, Fees and Expenses and Withdrawal Policies specified in the Work Integrated Learning.

Students complete mandatory preparatory modules during the Fall Term in which they are admitted, search for placement during Winter Term, and enter their first work-term in Spring/Summer or the following Fall Term. Work-terms may be interspersed with academic terms or completed consecutively. A minimum of three work-terms is required. Students must finish on a full-time academic term (at least 9 units). Exceptions require the approval of the Academic Director of Co-op.

Students must complete the Orientation and Pre-Work Preparation modules in D2L before starting their first work-term.

Each four-month work term is registered as a Co-operative Education 511 course. Co-operative Education courses are in addition to the normal requirements for a degree program.

Students are expected to focus on their work during a work term but may elect to take one three-unit course provided that the course does not occur during work hours or interfere with work-term responsibilities.

Co-operative Education 511 courses are graded on a completed requirements (CR)/fail (F) basis. A passing grade requires satisfactory performance as assessed by the Academic Director of Co-op on the basis of the following:

(a) the Co-op Co-ordinator or Advisor's evaluation of job performance, which is based on an on-site visit where practical;

(b) the employer's evaluation of job performance;

(c) the student's self-assessment of job performance and the overall job experience described in a work-term reflective report.

To graduate with the Co-operative Education designation, students must:

(a) complete Co-operative Education 511.01, 511.02, and 511.03;

(b) achieve a minimum GPA of 2.50 over their final 90 units.

Students may apply for a second degree (after-degree) with Co-op. Application for admission to Co-op must be made when the student applies for admission to the second degree.
